Anderson Cooper covers plight of Congolese women
Friday, January 18, 2008 at 04:43PM As Americans, we often have the luxury of where we turn our focus. Many of us only really take the time to consider the tragedies of remote regions on rare occasions. Our media outlets, too, are caught up in the cycle of "giving them what they want" and often what we want is to see the stories that most directly impact our own citizens - directly or indirectly. There's so much to take in - considering the plight of oppressed regions whose citizens many of us will never come in contact with is perhaps understandable.
Nonetheless, those spearheading the efforts of PTPL are encouraged to discover the popular media outlets' recent coverage of some of the areas with which we're most concerned. Those who may have missed these broadcasts, we'll be linking to some of them here, under the category headings "education" and "Congo" so that you might choose to learn more about the distress of this region.
Recently CNN's Anderson Cooper, on assignment for 60 Minutes, presented War Against Women in Congo. Please follow this link to view that segment online.
